What it's like to hire Sprout Labs
So you want to hire an agency. Navigating the landscape of software agencies is stressful and scary. Deciding who to partner with is hard, and that's true even if you've done it before. We want to make it easier by being transparent about our process and by setting clear expectations. The goals of doing this are to ensure you have confidence in us and to ensure we're a good fit.
Completing our form (or sending us an email)
The first step to working with us is reaching out. This can be done by completing our Hire Us form or by sending us an email. You can expect to hear from us within 1 business day after reaching out. We're located in New York City and our typical working hours are from 8:00am - 6:00pm, those two things will affect how soon you'll hear from us.
Finding time for introductions
The first thing we'll want to do is find ~30 minutes to chat. Video is best but phone works too. The primary goal is for you to learn more about us and how we can help. We'll ask you to talk about your product or business, at a high-level but with enough context for us to understand if we can help. And we'll do our best to answer any question you have about us, we'll follow up after the call with anything we can't immediatetly answer. This call, as with all of our touch-points, is informal and conversational. We're currently English-only.
Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)
At any point in the process we're more than happy to provide and/or sign an NDA. We're in the business of helping other people build software. We will not copy or share any information shared with us, whether there's an NDA or not. Everything you share with us is confidential. In order to be as transparent as possible, here is a link to our Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement.
Conversations to dig deeper
After the first call, there's usually a need for one (or many) more conversation(s). Before we start any work we're committed to making sure you feel comfortable working with us and we're sure we're able to help. We'll talk about what we need and we'll listen to what you need.
How much it'll cost
The biggest question anyone has when working with an agency is how much it'll cost. And from the perspective of the agency we need to find the right balance of what we need to support our business and what our prospective clients are willing to pay. At the moment, we don't have any hard and fast rules that we use to price engagements. We're still small, and relatively new, so we have a lot more to learn about our business and the market. We do have a few guidelines that have started to emerge, though please keep in mind that we negotiate each project independently.
- We're currently looking to grow our book of work and we're pricing accordingly.
- For smaller engagements we price per projects and for larger engagements we price per hour.
- We're happy to work on a shorter per-milestone basis before signing larger contracts.
- For shorter engagements we're happy to accept payment upon completion for work. For longer engagements we require a payment schedule.
Most importantly, we'll be transparent about what you're paying for, how much it'll cost, and when payment is due. We'll never have hidden fees.
